ABOUT THE COMPANY
Big Trees of California is the premier tree moving company in southern California. Our owner/operator, Mark Holland, has twenty-seven years of tree transplanting and boxing experience; twenty-one years as Big Trees of California and six years prior to that in Phoenix as Big Trees of Arizona. Mark personally oversees all tree transplanting projects.
Big Trees of California’s extensive tree transplanting knowledge and experience have been used on construction and renovation projects in California and the Phoenix area. We have transplanted thousands of trees for various municipalities, landscapers and general contractors as well as the California Department of Transportation (“CalTrans”) and the Arizona Department of Transportation. We have extensive experience in mitigation, working with native riparian areas, saving protected trees and plants and improving the quality of the environment. In 1990, Big Trees of California was contracted to move over 3,500 willow trees as part of the CalTrans Interstate 52 Extension project in San Diego County. Upon completion of the transplanting, the tree mortality rate for this job was determined to be less than 2%.
Big Trees of California has vast experience with many types and sizes of mechanical tree transplanting machines (“tree spades”), loaders, backhoes, trenchers, cranes, etc. Utilizing this type of equipment we have moved thousands of trees ranging in size from 36 inch box to 14 foot box. Our experience includes the transplanting and/or boxing of nearly every variety and size of shade tree as well as every size and type of palm.
